JV Boys’ Soccer Season Preview

The Canton Boys’ JV Soccer squad looks to carry on a tradition started by longtime JV Boys’ Soccer Coach Wayne Willette.

“Coach Willette  always put a strong team on the field, year in and year out and that continues to be our goal at Canton,” said current JV Boys Head Coach Mike Wentworth.

This year’s group is very young and looks to replace nine starters from last year’s team.

“This is a very athletic group and if they continue to work hard and are willing to come to practice every day to get better then they could be very competitive. A key for us is going to be to find a group of guys that takes pride in defense,” Wentworth said. “Goaltender is going to be a strength and we have a couple guys who love to get dirty. Now we just need to find some protection for them.”

On the offensive side, the Bears will need to replace Nick Estabrooks, who scored 25 goals for the JV side last year.

“This year we are going to have to score more by committee and I think we do have the guys that can do that,” Wentworth said.
This year’s JV boys’ soccer team includes:

Sophomores:
Scotty “Rudy” Ahlfeld
Kaden “Pickles” Baxter

Jack “Philly” Filiatrault
